About Me

Bill with Tammy Baldwin
I am a first-time candidate, but I'm not a political newcomer. I am a veteran journalist familiar with several of the big issues facing Wisconsin and our district. After many years of reporting on politics and government, I am eager to put that experience to work for the people of the 21st Assembly District.

I am the oldest of nine children and I grew up in the Milwaukee area. I earned a bachelor's degree in political science at UW-Madison. After working for four years at a small daily newspaper in Ohio, I earned a master's degree in journalism from Ohio State University.

After returning to the area, I spent nearly a decade as a suburban news reporter for the Milwaukee Journal. I covered suburbs in Milwaukee County, including several years reporting on South Milwaukee.

I have also written for the Catholic Herald, the Shepherd Express, and CNI suburban weeklies before doing public relations work for a college in recent years. During my journalistic career, I built a reputation for accurate, fair, and thorough reporting.

I and my wife, Marge, live in South Milwaukee. I will be campaigning throughout the 21st District (Oak Creek, South Milwaukee, and a small portion of Franklin), and I look forward to meeting the people of the district.
